What is Firefox OS ?

Firefox OS (project name: Boot to Gecko, also known as B2G) is a Linux-based open-source operating system for smartphones and tablet computers. It is being developed by Mozilla, the non-profit organization best known for the Firefox web browser. It is designed to provide a “complete” community-based alternative system for mobile devices, using open standards and approaches such as HTML5 applications, JavaScript, a robust privilege model, open web APIs to communicate directly with cellphone hardware, and application marketplace.

Requirements:

Firefox Web browser:
Download and install Firefox browser from the link
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

Note:

In Ubuntu Operating system Firefox Browser will be installed in default, no need to download.

Instructions:

1.Open the installed Firefox browser in your PC.
2.Go to the web page and select “Add to Firefox”

It will download a Add-on of about 50-70 Mb.
3.After downloading install the Add-on.

4.After installing select Firefox Menu -> Web Developer -> Firefox OS Simulator
5.Now you will see the Firefox OS Dashboard
6.By default the Simulator is stopped . Click the Stopped button to start the emulator.
7.Now Firefox OS will open in a new window and will be running.

8.You can also install Apps from the Firefox Marketplace
